House Program

The Nickel Centre Minor Hockey Association’s House program is for players between the age of 9 and 17 (Atom to Midget). It is a non-competitive league where all players play.

We play in the Northeastern Minor Hockey League which is affiliated with and operating under the Northern Ontario Hockey Association. House league players go through a sort of “mini-draft”. All players in each division are invited to skate and go through a set of drills. Each player in turn is rated on his skills. All players are then separated onto teams with the intent of having equally skilled teams. In the spirit of equalizing the skill of teams, adjustments may be required after team selection.

While each division varies, the Northeastern Minor Hockey League have teams from Little Current to Onaping Falls. Travel will vary as to how many teams and their location. All coaches are certified by Hockey Canada.
